Finding a bottle for your nursing baby is difficult. Whether you work full time or just want your child to take a bottle when you leave for a bit, breastfed babies are notoriously picky about what bottles they like. In fact, some babies won’t take a bottle at all! There are a few bottles we consider the best bottle for nursing babies that might help your child adapt to it just a bit easier.

Best Bottle for Nursing Babies

Comotomo Natural Feel Baby Bottle

Our first option is a highly rated choice, receiving 4.5 out of 4 stars. Comotomo baby bottles are designed to mimic the safe of a mother’s breast. Most nursing babies prefer a wider bottle, so look for that feature to help reduce bottle rejection. The neck of the Comotomo bottle is very wide. I love this feature because it makes cleaning by hand so easy.

You can put the bottle in the microwave, boiling water, dishwasher and sterilizers without any worry. However, microwaving breastmilk is never a good idea. The nipple is made of safe, hygienic medical grade silicone. The nipple has a wide mound to help your baby latch, creating a good transition from breast to bottle.

Another nice feature is that the Comotomo is soft and squeezy. Babies who are old enough to hold their bottle love that they can squeeze and massage the bottle, just like they might with their mother’s breast. The silicone gives a calming feel for the baby. Don’t worry about the silicone; it is BPA, PVC and phthalate free.

To reduce colic, Comotomo added dual anti-colic vents. Air goes in, and milk comes out. Air circulation is imperative to help reduce colic and spit up. Remember always to pick the right sized nipple. Comotomo offers four different sizes!

The First Years Breast Flow Bottle

I have breastfed all three of my babies. I tried a variety of bottles with my kids, and I had great success with the Breast Flow Bottle System. They are perfect for supplementing or even transitioning to a bottle full time. It is one of the few bottles designed to work just like the breast.

The Breast Flow bottle uses a unique two piece nipple that requires babies to use suction and compression, unlike typical nipples that need only suction. When baby nurses, they have to compress the breast as they suck. It is a two part system. Breast Flow bottles are ideal for breastfed babies who are used to this motion. It makes for an easy transition to and from the breast.

You won’t have trouble with colic because the nipple is vented to help reduce colic, gas, and spit-up. My babies had little trouble with any of them when we used the Breast Flow bottles. You can purchase these bottles in two sizes: 5 ounces and 9 ounces. They have different sized nipples for your baby as they age. Overall, we consider Breast Flow one of the best bottle for nursing babies.

Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Bottles

Here is another bottle that has great reviews, especially for breastfed babies. In fact, we use this brand for our third baby! He loves them and has no trouble transitioning from breast to bottle and back. Tommee Tippee is an award winning a bottle, designed to promote comfortable feedings for both babies and parents.

Their nipple has a unique design, developed by breastfeeding experts. It mimics the natural stretch, flex, and movement of a mother’s nipple. The nipple is created with soft silicone that feels like skin. So, as your baby drinks, the nipple will elongate and flex just like with mom. The bottle is also shaped like a breast. The broad base allows for easy latching and helps with the transition.

Another reason we love the Tommee Tippee is that they are easy to fill. The neck is wide for hand cleaning. You can place them in the microwave and dishwasher. On the side of the bottle, they included markings for ounces and millimeters; they don’t wear off with washing!

Tommee Tippee added sensitive vents to help reduce air. The slow flow nipples have a super sensitive valve that stops all the extra air flow. Your baby drinks more milk and less air. The shape of the bottle is compact. Babies can hold the bottle themselves as they get older. All Closer to Nature bottles are BPA free and priced to please parents!

Medela Calma Breast Milk Feeding Set

Most breastfeeding mothers have heard of Medela; they make some of the best breastfeeding pumps on the market. They also create one of the best bottle for nursing babies. Calma was set up with evidence-based research on a child’s natural feeding behavior. These bottles only allow milk to flow if your baby creates a vacuum to remove the milk. This behavior is very similar to how a baby breastfeeds at the breast.

Calma is unique compared to other brands. There is a control valve that lets the milk flow once the vacuum is created. To put the bottle together, there are a few different pieces. It can make cleaning a bit tricky, but it is worth it. Plus, you can pump directly into these bottles and put the nipple on. There is no reason to switch bottle types if you plan to use a Medela pump! They only use one size and shape of their nipple for all stages of feeding. Medela didn’t use any BPA when they created their Calma.

Medela understands breastfeeding and babies. It is no wonder parents, and children love their bottles.

Mimijumi Baby Bottle

If you want a unique looking baby bottle, the Mimijumi is as unique as they come. It is designed to look just like a breast, including flesh colored silicone for the nipple. The silicone is BPA free and crafted with medical and food grade silicone. Mimijumi has integrated venting to help prevent colic.

Babies don’t have as much trouble when latching to these bottles. The dome is dome shaped, just like a breast, to make latching easier. It will feel just like a nipple to your baby, closely mimicking their breastfeeding relationship with you.

Parents love that it is easy to clean bottle. It has a skid free base and a screw on the nipple; you can prepare the bottle with one hand on those sleepless nights. The reviews are great for this bottle. Babies experience very little gas or spit up because there is the minimal air intake. You can purchase small or medium nipples. If you have a very picky child, it is worth giving the Mimijumi bottle a chance. Parents who struggled to find an option for their child have found success here.

Lansinoh mOmma Breastmilk Feeding Bottle

Another highly rated bottle for nursing babies is by Lansinoh. Their mOmma bottle was designed for breastfed babies with their Natural Wave Nipple. It allows babies in the same, natural sucking actions they use at the breast, creating a smooth transition for babies who go from breast to bottle and back.

Lansinoh encourages oral development in your child. They also added an air ventilation system that reduces gas, spit-up, and colic. Babies who have a nipple preference have successfully helped breastfed infants transition to a bottle. They are made of 100% silicone, creating a soft and flexible nipple that compresses. It is a thicker nipple with a matte finish, but babies tend to enjoy it and latch easily.

Overall, the Lansihon mOmma bottles are great, budget-friendly bottles that breastfed babies take to with ease.

Philips Avent Natural Bottle

Our last bottle is another choice that I have used personally with my breastfed babies! The bottle encourages a natural way for a child to bottle feed. It has a soft, wipe shaped nipple, letting your baby latch on with ease. Avent added unique comfort petals inside the nipple that makes it softer and more flexible. The petals also help to reduce nipple collapse. Also, the wide neck opening is easier for parents to clean.

To help reduce colic and gas, Avent created an innovative twin valve with a slow nipple for newborns to feed comfortably. Parents rave that their babies have very little tummy problems when using these bottles.

Another nice feature is the ergonomic shape of the bottle. It is easy for people to hold as they feed the baby, and it is easier for kids to hold as they get older! It is perfect for small fingers. There are a lot of reasons to love the Avent bottles. They are made from polypropylene, a BPA-free material, and they come in a glass form as well!

If you are looking for the best bottle for nursing babies, these are seven fantastic choices. They all have shaped and designed with a breastfeeding baby in mind. The next thing for you to do is give one a try! Breastfed babies are known to be picky; it may take a few before you find the winner!
